Règne artificiel II
 Fofa gallery, Montreal, Montréal, 2010

Size : variable

Technique : polythene, fans, infrared presence sensor, microcontroller., RGB led spots

Circuit design and programming : Samuel St-Aubin

Règne artificial II is a site-specific installation in the mode of responsive architecture. A network of small inflatable objects populate the gallery and is animated with a slow expansion and contraction – motion that replicates breath. The structure itself mirrors organic materials in form but is constructed with transparent plastic sheet and is mechanically animated. With these material contradictions, Règne artificial II attempts to harmonize the artificial world with natural processes ina way that both seduces and repels with its immersive,  uncanny quality.
